The writer of Hebrews states: "Without faith it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists..." (11:6)
If anyone were asked if he believed in God, most of them would answer, "Yes, there is a God". For many, this may not be the true God, but for the Christian, we will testify that we believe in the one God and in Jesus Christ, His son.
The above scripture says that anyone who comes to God must believe that He exists. This is certainly true; since if someone did not believe that God existed, why would he go to Him? If someone did not believe that God was real, what purpose would praying to Him serve?
Does anyone strike a match without believing that it might light a fire? Does anyone sit on a chair without believing that it will hold them up? Does anyone make a deposit into the bank without believing that they will be able to use the funds?
So we can see that the very fact that someone comes to God is a testimony to the fact that they believe that God exists.
Faith seems to be a very tricky subject today in the Christian circle. There are numerous teachings on "faith" and a number of modifications to those teachings as well.
The purpose of this manual is not to expound upon the subject of faith. We will, however; present a brief overview of our stance on faith in order to understand the remainder of this manual.
